Start: 07/29/2008 - 6:30pm
End: 07/29/2008 - 8:30pm

America In Solidarity and the Healthy Washington Coalition invites the
community to discuss the issues most important and pressing to them in
reforming Washington’s health care system.The
Washington Health Care Caucus is an opportunity for community
discussion of the challenges we are currently facing in health care and
how we can start to achieve reform. It’s a chance to learn about the
opportunities for reform that have been created by legislation passed
in the 2008 legislative session and to make your voice heard on issues
such as cost, access, and benefits. The Healthy Washington
Coalition promoted legislation that required the state to contract with
an actuarial firm to analyze five health care reform proposals (Senate
bill 6333, passed February 2008).  The report from the actuarial firm
will be completed by February 2009.  Each proposal will be analyzed to
determine if it provides the people of Washington State with access to
high-quality health care services in the most efficient way possible. Over
the next four months the Healthy Washington Coalition will be hearing
from communities on what they want from health care reform at Health
Care  Caucuses in seven locations across the state.  These meetings
provide an opportunity for Washingtonians to work together to create a
health care system that will provide secure, quality affordable health
care.

Start: 07/29/2008 - 7:00pm
End: 07/29/2008 - 9:00pm

America In Solidarity is proud to host an evening event we are calling "Take Our Country Back"

This interactive event is designed to examine what we do, after the elections, to make sure our country is best for working families. We will have short presentations about health care, trade, civil liberties, worker's rights, environmental issues, Iraq and clean elections. Following the presentations there will be an open mike for you to sound off on what you think is important and then there will be a chance for you to vote and be active. Area groups will be invited to table the event so  you can be active in 2009.
