Trupiano Signs Pledge

America In Solidarity is proud to offer its pledge to Tony Trupiano who is running for Michigan’s 11th Congressional seat.

“Tony not only talks the talk, but walks the walk,” said Todd Iverson, president of America In Solidarity.

Passionate about labor, health care and protecting social security, Tony has been a progressive voice across the nation for several years having been a longtime fixture of talk radio. He was honored that America In Solidarity would offer him our pledge and we feel honored to offer a leader like Tony our pledge. He is the first politician in Michigan to sign our pledge.

Cantwell Signs Pledge

America In Solidarity president Todd Iverson met with Senator Maria Cantwell in her DC office on May 4 and offered her the America In Solidarity pledge. Over the past six years, Cantwell has been a solid voice for working families for the people of Washington State and is now leading the way in investigating the rising fuel costs that are tightening the budgets of families across the country.

Town Hall Discussion with Congressman Adam Smith

Across the country on January 7 2006, town halls convened across the country to discuss America's occupation of Iraq. One of the largest turnouts occurred in Tacoma, WA as America In Solidarity was proud to host Congressman Adam Smith. Nearly 400 people turned out for the event that featured an hour-and-a-half discussion with the congressman followed by a series of "Action Workshops" and a concert featuring Bob Wickline.

The "Action Workshops" included a panel about labor and the war, a "Citizens Toolkit" (how to write your congressman, a letter to the editor, etc) and counter recruitment in our schools. The event took place at Tacoma’s First United Methodist Church and America In Solidarity wants to thank the church and Bob Collier for hosting us.

Special thanks to the Micah Project of First United Methodist Church and the Tacoma Progressive Roundtable in helping to organize the event and AM 1090 for helping publicize the event.
