State Representative Larry Seaquist, one of my favorite politicians, has launched a website and blog that will:

to help foster the strategic thinking we’ll need if the citizens and businesses of Washington state are to weather the current economic crisis and emerge on the other side stronger than ever

Seaquist, a former Navy Captain, has an incredible passion for public service. He's one of the few politicians out there looking at the bigger issues, trying to find the best solution for all (not just those who'll best help him get elected like most in DC and Olympia). He introduces ForehandedWa.com by stating:

Forehandedness is the ship captain’s first duty.  He is obliged to think through every contingency no matter how unlikely, to anticipate and avoid rough weather and dangerous waters, and if avoidance is impossible, to bring his crew and ship through with minimum damage.

The citizens and businesses of Washington state are plunging into the most severe economic recession since the Great Depression.  If ever there were a requirement for public forehandedness, this is it.
