Dr. David Gill
Candidate for Illinois' 15th Congressional Seat
An emergency room physician, Dr. David Gill is in one of the hottest races for Congress this fall. His concern about our country’s direction and also believes
that we are at a point in history where we have a choice to make, led us to offer him our pledge to support working families. His campaign is centered around whether we will
pursue our current destructive course of reckless war, mounting
debt, and domestic policies that put American families at increasing
risk? Or will we put our values into action and work to secure a future
of responsibility, security, and opportunity?
Why are you seeking office? Because America needs dramatic changes in so
many areas of public policy
What qualifies you to represent working families? Because I live within
one, I grew up within one, and I care for the members of working families
every day in the Emergency Department.
What are the main issues affecting the people you would represent?
Affordable healthcare, energy independence, protecting American jobs
What is your position on the "Right to Work" issue? "Right to Work" is
a misnomer, representing yet another attack upon unions; I vigorously oppose
RTW legislation/policy.
Do you feel government entities should change zoning laws to accommodate
big block retailers like Wal-Mart? No, I would make no special
accommodations for big block retailers.
Do you support initiatives like the "Fair Share Health Care" Bill that
would force large companies to either provide health insurance for their
employees or pay into the state's health care system? Yes, but a far better
solution would be the Single-Payer healthcare system that I've long
advocated as a 15 year member of Physicians for a National Health Plan
(www.pnhp.org).
What is your position on living wage ordinances? Strongly supportive.
