Kucinich Will Force Up or Down Vote on Impeachment

Washington, Nov 2 - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) announced today that he will be offering a privileged resolution on the House floor next week that will bring articles of impeachment against the Vice President, Richard B. Cheney.

“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power.

“Despite this groundswell of opposition to the unconstitutional conduct of office, Vice President Cheney continues to violate the U.S. Constitution by insisting the power of the executive branch is supreme.

“Congress must hold the Vice President accountable. The American people need to let Members of Congress know how they feel about this. The Vice President continues to use his office to advocate for a continued occupation of Iraq and prod our nation into a belligerent stance against Iran. If the Vice President is successful, his actions will ensure decades of disastrous consequences.”

The privileged resolution has priority status for consideration on the House floor. Once introduced, the resolution has to be brought to the floor within two legislative days, although the House could act on it immediately. Kucinich is expected to bring it to the House floor on Tuesday, November 6.

Handicapping the Presidential race

Here is how I think it'll turn out...

1. Gore

2, Edwards

3. Clinton

4. Obama

5. Richardson

6. Kucinich

Well that is assuming Gore jumps in, which I think he will this autumn.

Edwards speaks to labor

I attended the AFL-CIO Town Hall with John Edwards in Seattle on May Day. I haven't completely swallowed the kool-aid yet, but Edwards sells it well. My bs alarm wasn't really going off like it does when I hear most politicians speak. I think he does understand working America's plight.

I am slightly concerned his health care plan merely feeds the beast by subsidizing insurance companies, but other than Kucinich he is the only candidate offering something. I like his stance on trade policies and the EFCA. My hunch is that he will get most of organized labor's support when endorsements start coming out this autumn.

Does anyone like Hillary?

I'm confused because I keep seeing Hillary atop the polls. Yet, I've never met one dye-in-the-wool Hilary backer, never seen a sign, bumper sticker,etc...at least locally. Maybe I hang out with labor folks. Maybe I mostly talk to liberals. Maybe I haven't left Washington State in over four months. Maybe I am just full of coincidences. So if anyone on this site likes her as your first choice, let me know. Because I am starting to think Hillary's popularity is all made up.

Dennis Kucinich is my candidate of choice

For a long time now I've been vacillating between Edwards and Kucinich, but now I'm pretty much convinced that Dennis is the guy for me. Anyone who has the courage to call for impeachment of the vice president of the United States has got my vote. Of course, if Obama or Edwards called for a full investigation into what really happened on 9/11, I'd definitely consider switching my loyalty...
